Golden Golan 5

The Golan Heights are an area at the northern end of Israel, right smack on the border with Syria. The area has been hotly contested over the years, and became part of Israel after the 6-Day War in 1967.

Military history aside, however, the landscape in the area is absolutely breathtaking. Like most of northern Israel's countryside, the palate of the Golan is all green, grey and gold; a striking combination beneath the bright blue sky.
